Salience //Seen Tee

The first piece of the Salience Series.

A material study: here we utilize the unique properties of jersey material, curling rather than fraying on raw edges, to form the eyelids.

Salience: n. the quality of being particularly noticeable or important; prominence.

The past few months, I have been contending with this idea on multiple levels:

The relevance of my work.
My impact in society at large.
My significance to my communities.
My importance to the person/persons that are important to me.
The value I have for myself and what I create.

In this series I use the symbolism of eyes to capture the idea of Salience. Our being seen or unseen by others and being seen by ourselves and finding the necessary balance of both. The goal being, Salience without compromise of Self, or more ideally, Salience as a result of genuine Self.
